Session: CANCELED - Teacher Academy - Digital Tools to Promote Family Engagement and Student Success

This session is a Menu B course option for the WVCPD Teacher Academy and is open to all teachers.

The Digital Tools to Promote Family Engagement and Student Success professional development is a one day session designed by WVCPD’s Infusing Technology program. Social science research indicates positive family engagement correlates with higher levels of success for students.

Participants will be introduced to the importance of family engagement, in education, by reviewing national data from the US Department of Education, the National Center for Educational Statistics, and the Harvard Family Research Project.

Participants will explore ideas that will challenge their way of thinking about family engagement learning by:

• creating a welcome that supports a partnership for family engagement

• identifying and implementing the best practices for communicating with their students’ families

• establishing a professional online presence that supports all families and students in a safe learning environment

• exploring how to strengthen the family engagement partnership by sharing student success

Participants will gain invaluable ideas and skills designed to transform their perspective and teaching practices to promote their students’ successes.

Your space will not be guaranteed until payment for the session or purchase order number is received.

A one-time registration fee of $125.00 provides you materials, instructors, and one night's lodging for qualified participants for all Academy sessions you attend during the 2017-18 cycle. Please pay the $125.00 registration fee online, mail to: WVCPD: WV Center for Professional Development - The Culture Center, 1900 Kanawha Blvd. E., Charleston, WV 25305, or provide a purchase order number from your county.
