Event Detail

Session: Preparing for the AP Calculus AB Course - Advanced Placement Fall Institute (Morgantown)

Description:

The two major topics in the beginning study of calculus are rate and accumulation. Participants to this 1-day workshop will learn how to help students understand the concepts of rate and accumulation through content, classroom strategies and activities, and the use of technology. Topics include such concepts as slopes and areas, average and instantaneous rates of change, and accumulating distances when speeds are constant or changing. Emphasis is on understanding the connections between the presentation of rate and accumulation concepts as the strands develop throughout the curriculum from grade 6 to AP Calculus.

Please note: This session is not for preparing students to take the AP exam, but rather for helping the students to be prepared for the course.
