Public Broadcasting Partnership

The West Virginia Center for Professional Development (WVCPD) has partnered with its sister agency, West Virginia Public Broadcasting (WVPB), to create new professional development resources for the PBS  LearningMedia portal. This online tool is free and features innovative, standards-aligned and curriculum-targeted videos for educators and students. LearningMedia offers thousands of videos that open the door to endless possibilities for teaching and learning. As a part of this partnership, WVCPD is designing tutorials on a range of topics that help teachers enhance classroom practices. Additionally, WVPB is working with the Center to produce information pieces about the great work and innovation occurring in classrooms across the states. These pieces will be broadcast on PBS stations around the state in the coming months. The first of these features the journey of Mingo Central High School from state control to the College Board's Advanced Placement Honor Roll. A second video shares the story of how Infusing Technology is helping Nitro High School teach AP History as part of a pilot program in which students receive most instruction online with limited classroom time.
