2018 Summer Registration Opens

For Immediate Release
March 20, 2018

2018 Registration Open for WVCPD Summer Sessions:

Advanced Placement Summer Institutes and National Board Certification

Charleston, W.Va. – The West Virginia Center for Professional Development (WVCPD) has opened registration for its Advanced Placement (AP) and National Board Certification (NBC) sessions. Trainings begin in early June and continue through August.

Each summer WVCPD works to ensure sessions are accessible to educators.  As a result, more than 600 participants will use a portion of their summer breaks to take advantage of these high caliber research-based courses. The Center will offer 36 content-specific sessions at three AP Summer Institutes. Those locations include Musselman High School in Inwood (June 19 – 22); University High School in Morgantown (June 26 – 29); and George Washington High School in Charleston (July 10 – 13). West Virginia’s AP Summer Institutes are endorsed by the College Board and bring consultants from around the country to the state to lead these four-day intensive experiences.

The Center will build on its National Board Certification success with three days of training that assist educators pursuing their NBC. This credential is the gold standard among educators nationally, and West Virginia ranks 17th in the country for the percentage of NBC teachers. WVCPD support of these educators has led to a 78 percent pass rate for those pursing the certification (among those who have participated in the Center’s sessions). A range of NBC sessions is scheduled for the South Charleston Holiday Inn (June 26 – 28) and the Bridgeport Conference Center (July 23 - 25) this summer. Additional NBC support sessions are scheduled for fall 2018.

Registration is available on a first come, first served basis. Important deadlines apply.
